A Message From Our Leadership Team

Friends,

I hope you are all doing well and staying safe and healthy in this time. As the start of the Fall Semester is upon us here at Hillel at Binghamton, we would like to outline our own reopening plan as we gear up to continue in our mission to foster an enduring commitment to Jewish life and learning on Binghamton’s campus through community building and leadership opportunities.

Hillel at Binghamton is fully committed to providing the resources to continue building Jewish life on campus in Binghamton and will do so from the position of the importance of saving a life by starting the year off completely virtual.

COVID-19 has presented all of us with a sense of the unknown. While we, Hillel at Binghamton’s professional staff, student leadership, and Board of Directors, would like to resume in-person programming as soon as possible, we recognize that we are existing in a world filled with unknowns. In order to elevate safety to the forefront of our campus operations, Hillel at Binghamton will be operating from the following baseline: our office on campus in the Student Union is closed for business and all of our programming and meetings will be held virtually.

Hillel at Binghamton will be available online for both drop in appointments, virtual group meetings, and virtual events such as speakers or social programming. We will be providing financial and logistical support for Shabbat and Holiday meals in your respective homes. Education, major events, and social opportunities will still happen — just in a different format than we have experienced in the past. We are working closely with the Student Association and Binghamton University to gain a better understanding of COVID testing protocols and general safety procedures for campus in order to transition to in-person events again when the circumstances permit.

We look forward to keeping you updated to our plan as circumstances change. To see our current virtual offerings and ways to get involved please check out our Facebook and Instagram pages, in addition to our Hillel Calendar that can be found HERE.

Thank you,

Anna Dlott, Hillel President
Ilaina Edison, Board Chair of Hillel at Binghamton
