About Us

Kaskeset is Binghamton University's only Jewish a cappella group. The group was founded in 1996 as an offshoot of Hillel/JSU on campus. Since then, the group has become one of the premier Jewish singing troupes in the country.

  • In 2010, Kaskeset became the first Jewish contemporary group in the world to advance to the semi-finals of the International Collegiate A Cappella competition.
  • Kaskeset received a CARA (Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award) for its recording of Mimaamakim on the Teal album.
  • The group has toured in Florida, Boston, the District of Columbia, California and more.
  • Kaskeset is currently pioneering a new realm of a cappella music: original songs.

All of our songs are done a cappella, meaning song without accompaniment — instruments or otherwise. The group sings four to fourteen-part harmonies, with intricate musical arrangements to create a "vocal band" ambiance using only the human voice and body. The style is unique from any other you will experience.

Our members come from all over the country and from different Jewish backgrounds.

What brings us together? Our love for music!
