Impact the world with Hillel at Binghamton's award-winning Committee for Social Justice programming. Hillel at Binghamton is a campus leader in the areas of social action, service, advocacy and education on a wide range of contemporary issues. Hillel provides a range of short and long term volunteer opportunities and raises awareness about a variety of issues from the needs of Broome County to those in need in Israel.
To kick off the spring semester, Hillel’s Committee for Social Justice hosted a Thrift Shop Event. Here, students had the opportunity to donate clothing items in exchange for other items, or pay an entry fee.
All of the leftover clothing was donated to RISE, a women’s domestic violence shelter here in Johnson City, along with Catholic Charities, which work with people below the poverty line to get them jobs, homes and food.
