Frequently Asked Questions

What is Camp Kislak? I don't know anyone who went there!
Camp Kislak is an Adult recreational and educational facility, located in the Northeastern most corner of the Pocono Mountains in Lake Como, PA. The Kislak Center is operated by the NJ YMHA-YWHA, a professional, not-for-profit organization which has served the Jewish Community since 1920. The Center caters to Jewish single adults and couples age 55 and over, offering a unique vacation experience with a full range of activities. They often rent it to other organizations like Hillel at Binghamton, Ramaz High School and many others.
Is it Kosher?
All of Hillel at Binghamton's activities on and off campus provide kosher food. Camp Kislak has a Kosher Kitchen and our event will be supervised by an orthodox masgiach. If you would like additional information, please contact the Hillel at Binghamton office at 607-777-3424.
How do I move into my dorm early?
Just sign up for FreshFest and we will put you in the University system for early arrivals. Approximately one week before you move in, you will receive a confirmation from us. The most important thing for us to know is your Binghamton email when you get it - that's how Residence life keeps track of you. That's it!
How much time do we really have to move in?
Most FreshFest participants have found that if they move in at 9am and are relatively efficient, they are set to join FreshFest at 1pm. There are only a few people who move in earlier than normal, so you can park close to your building and you don't have to wait in traffic to get anywhere. You can also continue to move in and set up your room after FreshFest concludes. Some parents have stayed in Binghamton to continue setting up while the student attends FreshFest.
If you think you will need more time, we can arrange for you to move in as of 12pm on Tuesday. You can request this option on your FreshFest registration. Please note that if you choose to do this, Hillel is not providing food or activities on Tuesday evening and the dining halls are not yet open. We suggest that your family should remain with you in Binghamton during this time.
