Bearcats for Israel

Mission Statement:

Bearcats for Israel supports the existence of the State of Israel and its right to defend itself within safe and secure borders as a Jewish, democratic state. We aim to promote a positive image of Israel on the Binghamton University campus. We are dedicated to increasing awareness within the Binghamton University student body by sponsoring educational, cultural, political and social programs about Israel and issues relevant to the current situation in the region. Bearcats for Israel functions as part of the umbrella organization that is Hillel at Binghamton.

Goals:

  • To provide a structured forum for students to comfortably discuss Israeli politics, culture and society
  • To form coalitions with other student organizations
  • To increase student participation in programs abroad in Israel, including Hillel's Birthright trip and MASA study abroad
  • To provide resources and material to students in order to effectively advocate for the State of Israel
  • To celebrate Yom Haatzmaut in a fun and positive way
  • To be proactive and not reactive but are equipped to respond to any negative Israel sentiment that arises
