Shana Teig Kantor is originally from Long Island, NY, like many of the Jewish students at Binghamton University. She holds masters' degrees from New York University in Non-profit Management and Jewish Studies. Shana has worked for Hillel for six years. Three of those years were in Hillel's Schusterman International Center in Washington, D.C., one as the director of Hillel's Collegiate Leadership Internship Program in Manhattan and for two years as the Director of Development at the University of Southern California Hillel. She has lived in Israel and studied for two years at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem. Shana is married to Rabbi Shalom Kantor and they have a daughter named Rena.

Ellen Rosenshein grew up in the Catskill Mountains of New York and graduated from Binghamton University in 1999 with a BS in Geology. Ellen then moved to Arizona for graduate work in geology and later spent a year working at Sweet Briar College in Virginia and a year at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Along the way, she decided that Jewish life was much more appealing to her than geology, and decided to make a career switch. This has landed her back at Binghamton, and she's very happy to be home again! Ellen is very excited about her second year as a career Jewish professional at Hillel at Binghamton, and can't wait to get started working with the students again!

Rabbi Shalom Kantor - KOACH-Hillel Campus Rabbi

Rabbi Shalom Kantor received rabbinic ordination from the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies at the American Jewish University in May, and has relocated to Binghamton, New York with his wife and two month old daughter. He will be working as the first full time KOACH Hillel Campus Rabbi at Binghamton University– a position jointly funded by the USCJ and Hillel in an effort to provide the first ever liberal observant rabbinic presence on the Binghamton University campus. Originally from Sun Valley Idaho, Rabbi Kantor learned the joys of working with a smaller Jewish community in the mountains and using the natural surroundings as a source for his spiritual journey. He spent a year in Jerusalem pursuing his love of culinary Judaism by working full time as the chief Wine Steward at the King David Hotel. He then studied at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies for a pre-rabbinic year. While in rabbinical school, Rabbi Kantor took a leave of absence from his formal rabbinical studies to spend a year in Israel becoming the only non-Orthodox shochet in the world.

Preston Neal was born and raised deep in the heart of Texas – Austin, that is. He comes to Binghamton from Boston, where he graduated from Brandeis University with a BA in Judaic Studies in May 2007. Preston has a deep affection for squirrels, the piano, the Red Sox (sorry Yankees fans), his Mama’s homemade Challah, and Ultimate Frisbee. At Hillel at Binghamton, Preston works mostly with first-years and students looking for more “non-traditional” ways of exploring their Jewish identity.
